چکیده

In one stream of development, one partner in the project had just achieved an interpretation of group cohomology or Lie-algebra cohomology in terms of higher-dimensional central extensions, as developed by Rodelo–Van der Linden [14, 15]. It extends the classical interpretation of the second group cohomology in terms of equivalence classes of short exact sequences with central kernel. This development builds upon the notion of semi-abelian category as in Janelidze–Márki–Tholen [11], and the concept of higher central extension developed within the framework of categorical Galois theory based on the work of Janelidze et al. (See [2, 5, 9, 10].) In addition, methods from the theory of simplicial groups are used. In a parallel and complementary stream of development, the second partner in the project had just achieved a proof of existence of universal n-step extensions of modules over an arbitrary unitary ring [12]. This development involves certain higher torsion theories, some potentially noncommutative. It immediately has several applications ranging from

Universal Central Extension of Current Superalgebras

Representation as well as central extension are two of the most important concepts in the theory of Lie (super)algebras. Apart from the interest of mathematicians, the attention of physicist are also drawn to these two subjects because of the significant amount of their applications in Physics. In fact for physicists, the study of projective representations of Lie (super)algebras  are very impo...

The Performance Implications of Shared Experience across Creative Project Teams

This study reviews recent empirical results that show the relationship between shared experience and project performance to be negative. After discussing the difference between sharing experience across projects and interaction and learning within projects, I propose two ways that shared experience might create performance deficits. One is that shared experience carried forward from previous co...

CVEN 489-501 Group Project: Environmental Fluid Mechanics Research and Comparison to Engineering Practice

For this project, teams of two students each will work together to research a topic in environmental fluid mechanics, write a report in a format consistent with this project description, and prepare a short in-class presentation. Students are free to choose their own topics, or they may choose from a list of suggestions. The report may be in the style of a case study or more fundamental in natu...
